Petrochemical Association and foreign aid respond to REACH regulations

On January 9, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with REACH Law Office, based in Helsinki, Finland. This partnership aims to support Chinese companies in navigating the complex requirements of EU REACH regulations. Under the agreement, both parties will collaborate to assist domestic petroleum, petrochemical, and chemical manufacturers, as well as traders in downstream sectors such as light industry, textiles, electromechanics, and automotive industries. They will provide guidance on chemical registration, pre-registration, and training under the REACH framework. Additionally, the two organizations are planning to host a seminar in Beijing in early March, focusing on REACH compliance and offering practical training for local businesses. According to the implementation schedule of the REACH regulation, the pre-registration phase for chemicals will start on June 1 this year. This regulation is considered one of the most significant trade barriers China has faced since joining the WTO. It is expected to impact over 90% of chemical trade between China and Europe. In response, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association has prioritized efforts to help its members adapt and comply with the new rules.
