Large corn harvester unveiled in the autumn harvest battlefield in Yining County, Xinjiang
In September, the 40-mu cornfield in Yining County, Xinjiang, becomes a bustling scene of agricultural activity as large-scale corn harvesters come into action. These powerful machines are making a big difference, efficiently collecting rows of golden corn with impressive speed and precision. Locals praise the machines for their efficiency and reliability, transforming the traditional harvesting process.
At the end of August this year, the local agricultural machinery department helped farmers introduce three advanced corn harvesters, valued at over 940,000 yuan. These machines include the "Mushen Brand" 6-row self-propelled corn harvester and four "Pioneer" series models developed by the Xinjiang Research Institute. Each machine was carefully selected, tested, and approved by the agricultural machinery department to ensure quality and performance.
After several rounds of debugging, the machines were officially put into operation in early September. So far, they have successfully harvested more than 400 acres of corn, operating smoothly and efficiently. Normally, each machine can harvest between 70 to 100 mu per day, significantly outpacing manual labor. The cost per acre for full-cycle harvesting—covering cutting, pulling, straw crushing, and cob peeling—is estimated at around 30 yuan, much lower than the previous manual method.
This technological advancement not only reduces labor costs but also creates new job opportunities for surplus workers, boosting local income. As a result, the machines have been widely welcomed by the community, marking a significant step forward in modernizing agriculture in the region.
