What you may not know about autopilot

Introduction: Do you think that what you think of as "autopilot" is what you think of "autopilot"? Failing to understand these four words may have serious consequences!

With regard to autopilot, many people will understand it as a full-intelligence technology that does not require manual human intervention. In fact, this may be a misunderstanding. To ensure the safety of every driver and passenger, we must look at how authorities have classified it. What kind of automation is exactly what automation is.

Level0 - Needs eyes + ears + hands + feet without automation: The car is fully manned by people and can be assisted by a warning and protection system during driving.

level1——Needs eye + ear + hand or foot driving support: Supports one of the steering wheel and acceleration/deceleration according to the driving environment. Other actions are performed by people.

Level2 - need eyes + ears (hands or feet)
Partially automated: Supports multiple operations in the steering wheel and acceleration/deceleration depending on the driving environment. Other actions are performed by people.

level3—Needs conditional automating of the eyes and ears: All driving operations are performed by the autopilot system. According to the driving request, humans provide appropriate responses.

level4—Needs automatic height control of the eyes and ears: All driving operations are performed by the autopilot system. According to the driving request, humans do not necessarily need to respond to all system requests and define road and environmental conditions.

Level5 - Nothing!
Fully automated: All driving operations are done by the autopilot system. According to the driving request, the human driver takes over if possible. Can drive in all road conditions.

Many manufacturers like to put automation in advertising placards. This may be true, but from the consumer's point of view, these may be more suitable as automatic assisted driving. Although autopilot can share some of the fatigue, it doesn't mean that it is safe to give him all the steering wheel. We'd better keep the steering wheel at all times!
