3. Heavy medium ore dressing Heavy medium dressing, also known as suspension ore dressing, is a process in which the separation of the useful minerals and gangues is carried out in suspension. Practice has proved that heavy medium beneficiation has high separation precision, large selection of particle size range, high efficiency in discarding waste rock in pre-selection, and no sewage discharge during sorting. It was widely used in non-ferrous metals, ferrous metals and roughing operations in the coal industry. The heavy medium manganese industry has mature experience abroad. Australia's Groot Island manganese mine, India's Dongli-Buze mine, Japan's Shangguo manganese ore beneficiation plant, Brazil's Ekomi manganese mine company Santara plant and the New Mexico manganese ore plant have been in industrial production. Application, the effect is good. China has also done a lot of useful work in the research and application of manganese in heavy media, and has gained certain experience.
Kunming Institute of Metallurgy and Xiangtan Manganese Mine have done a lot of work in the experimental study of manganese selection in heavy media. From the mid-1970s, large-scale small tests, pilot tests, and industrial trial production began. The heavy medium cyclone is a sorting device that separates useful minerals and gangues in the ore using heavy media in a centrifugal field. Therefore, it can be used for ores with lower media density and higher separation density requirements.
The ore and the appropriate proportion of the resuspension are formulated into a certain concentration of slurry flow, which is fed into the cylindrical part of the cyclone in a tangential direction by the feeding port at a certain pressure, and the ore is rotated radially with the medium in the cyclone, due to The buoyancy of the centrifugal force and the large medium density resuspension creates a high-density sorting zone inside the cyclone, and the ore is layered according to the density. The medium is graded and concentrated in the sorting zone, forming a density wall in the radial direction, and the density gradient is successively decreased from the outer and the inner. The selected ore is brought to the wall with the medium, and the ore with a high density is thrown to the wall through the dielectric layer, and descends with the wall of the high-density medium, and the spiral motion at the bottom of the cone is discharged by the grit chamber. The ore with a small density is located in the high-density sorting zone. Due to the inertia and the buoyancy of the suspension and the cross-sectional area of ​​the cone portion, the column is raised with the air column, and moves toward the center of the cyclone. The tube is discharged to achieve the purpose of sorting the ore.

From September 1974 to November 1979, a total of 2108h was operated, 40588t of raw ore was processed, 79500t of concentrate was obtained, the ore grade was 11.24%~14.96%, the manganese grade of concentrate was 22.48%~25.07%, and the manganese in tailings was 8.11%~10.10%, the recovery rate of manganese metal is 41.33%~47.27%, which is 9.84% manganese in the original design, 26% manganese in concentrate, 5.5% manganese in tailings, and 55.94% metal recovery. Analysis of the reasons: 1 mine, rock density difference is small; 2 optional test ore sample and the actual production of mineral raw materials inconsistent; 3 media raw material selection is improper; 425 ~ 10mm grain size sorting effect is poor, after repeated rectification invalid And stopped production.
