Here's an excerpt from the Chicago Tribune's report:
Around noon on a bitterly cold Thursday, firefighters responded to a residential fire in Tinley Park. Assistant Fire Chief Kris Dunn mentioned that upon arrival, they found significant flames engulfing the first floor and attached garage of the house. As they approached the scene, they were informed that someone might be trapped inside, but fortunately, this wasn't the case.
The fire conditions were extremely challenging due to the freezing temperatures, making it difficult for firefighters to maneuver. During the operation, two individuals, including one firefighter who slipped on the icy ground, sustained injuries. Despite these hardships, the firefighters remained focused and worked tirelessly to bring the situation under control. The community expressed gratitude for their dedication and bravery in such adverse weather conditions.
