It’s been over a year since the world was turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic. As essential businesses, Nationwide Coils faced unique challenges but managed to adapt and thrive under trying circumstances. Here’s how they navigated the storm...

What impact did the pandemic have on your business in its early stages?

Despite the uncertainty, Nationwide Coils was designated as an essential business under FDA guidelines, allowing us to continue serving our customers, many of whom were also deemed critical infrastructure. Hospitals, in particular, depended on us to ensure proper indoor climate control during this challenging time. While there was a temporary slowdown compared to previous years, our production facilities remained fully operational throughout the pandemic. Although we had to tighten our belts in terms of corporate spending and employee benefits, we were fortunate enough to keep our entire workforce intact.

Were there any employee-related challenges due to the virus?

We’ve had some employees test positive for COVID-19, but fortunately, none of these cases disrupted our operations. Each affected individual followed CDC quarantine protocols, and our team came together to ensure continuity. We’re proud to say that everyone pulled through as a united front.

When did you begin to notice a noticeable uptick in business?

Interestingly, 2021 started off steady, maintaining the same pace as the end of 2020. However, things changed dramatically in mid-February when a severe winter storm hit the central U.S., causing widespread power outages and disruptions, especially in Texas. This event led to a surge in demand for heating and cooling solutions, propelling our business forward. Despite the rollercoaster nature of the industry, we're optimistic about the future thanks to the ongoing vaccination rollout.

Looking ahead, what does the next chapter hold for Nationwide Coils?

The outlook for the coming year is incredibly promising. We've secured several large-scale contracts, expanded our workforce, and are thrilled to announce plans to relocate our New York headquarters to a larger space. These developments underscore our commitment to growth and innovation even amidst adversity.
