Calumet Park house fire, 7-21-14
Last night, I witnessed quite an intense scene unfold in my neighborhood. Around 7:20 PM on Monday (July 21st, 2014), the Calumet Park Fire Department received a call about a structure fire on the 12400 block of South Honore. The response time was impressive—less than two minutes. When the first trucks arrived, they found the residents already outside, and thick smoke billowing from the front door of the house.
As firefighters entered the building, they quickly located the source of the fire in one of the back bedrooms. Within just three minutes of their arrival, the flames were under control, and the situation was stabilized. Thankfully, the fire didn't spread to other parts of the house or the attic. Neighboring departments like Posen, Midlothian, Merrionette Park, and Riverdale also sent support to assist.
I took some photos during the incident, capturing moments like firefighters entering the smoke-filled house, water hitting the flames, and even a firefighter climbing a ladder with tools. It was a chaotic yet organized scene, showcasing the bravery and efficiency of our local fire department. The images really highlight how quickly these professionals can handle such emergencies, minimizing potential damage and ensuring everyone's safety.
