US Kennedy/Jenks Launches New Wastewater Treatment Equipment
A few days ago, Kennedy/Jenks Consultants of the United States won the annual award for engineering achievement of the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) for the development of a new wastewater treatment method. This filtration method uses a large-diameter filter medium during the backflow of strong air, which can greatly improve the filtration performance in the wastewater treatment process, thereby reducing the operation and maintenance costs.
It is reported that a wastewater treatment plant in South Bay is carrying out a large-scale research and test of this method, and the current test results have exceeded expectations. A typical method of removing solids from wastewater is a dual-medium structure granular filter using anthracite (coal) and sand, and a monolayer anthracite medium structure with a diameter 2.5 times larger than the existing filter media was used in the test. The plant is now able to process approximately 20 million gallons of wastewater per day, ensuring water availability at Menlo Park, Sequoia City, Portola Valley and other places. The researchers pointed out that if the test results are confirmed, the application of this new type of granular single media filtration structure in the industry will greatly reduce the cost of operation and maintenance.
