The Opportunity for Better Starts at Autodesk University 2019
LAS VEGAS, November 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Today marks the beginning of the annual Autodesk University conference, a gathering that connects over 12,000 professionals globally from fields such as construction, manufacturing, architecture, engineering, and media creation. Held over four intensive days, this event combines comprehensive classroom sessions with networking opportunities, all aimed at equipping attendees with the skills necessary to shape a more sustainable and innovative future.
The conference kicks off with an opening keynote delivered by Autodesk President and CEO Andrew Anagnost. He will reiterate the company's ongoing dedication to providing industries with tools that allow them to accomplish more while minimizing environmental impact. This year’s theme emphasizes the concept of achieving better—better workflows, outcomes, and a better world—as industries continue to evolve. Joining Anagnost will be guest speakers like Build Change founder and CEO Dr. Elizabeth Hausler, as well as Walt Disney Imagineering executive creative director Asa Kalama.
“AU Las Vegas is not just a conference; it’s a celebration of how our customers are leveraging technology to create meaningful change,†said Anagnost. “We want everyone here to leave inspired and empowered to drive similar progress within their own industries.â€
Further keynotes during the conference will spotlight recent advancements tailored specifically for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sector, as well as those relevant to design and manufacturing. These sessions will highlight cutting-edge technologies and partnerships unique to each industry while exploring how these domains intersect to foster cross-industry innovation.
Attendees will also have the chance to engage beyond traditional classrooms through interactive exhibits at the AU Las Vegas Expo. Here, participants can experience firsthand how modern technologies are transforming design processes. Highlights include the world’s first mass-produced chair crafted via AI, an enormous AR-enhanced hybrid manufacturing machine, sustainable water infrastructure solutions driven by digital data, and a high-performance sports and entertainment venue designed around community values.
Additionally, AU will introduce its newly revamped Autodesk Group Network, established in collaboration with over 80 existing global groups and leaders. This initiative seeks to strengthen support networks across various industries and software platforms, encouraging greater collaboration and innovation among users worldwide.
Autodesk is proud to announce Build Change as the beneficiary of this year’s AU Las Vegas Donation Drive. Build Change works tirelessly to save lives in earthquake and storm-prone regions by constructing resilient homes and schools. Recognizing the urgent need for safer housing solutions globally, they tackle issues related to technology, finance, and human capacity building. Since partnering with the Autodesk Foundation in 2014, Autodesk has provided resources such as software licenses and training programs. Looking ahead, Autodesk aims to allocate 1% of its operating margins towards supporting organizations like Build Change through the foundation.
For the fifth consecutive year, AU Las Vegas will operate as a carbon-neutral event, aligning perfectly with Autodesk’s broader goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2020. Through strategic investments in efficiency, renewable energy sources, and carbon offset projects alongside customers, Autodesk continues to lead by example in sustainability practices.
Throughout the duration of the conference, Autodesk plans to unveil exciting updates regarding new products, collaborations, and initiatives designed to empower customers toward embracing transformative possibilities. Updates will be shared via the company blog, ADSK News, ensuring timely coverage of breaking announcements.
Autodesk University extends far beyond Las Vegas, reaching audiences across eight countries annually through live events attended by over 22,000 participants.
