It’s hard to believe it’s already been over a year since the world changed due to the pandemic. At first, no one could fully grasp the impact this virus would have on our lives. But as time passed, MACC members like Nationwide Coils showed incredible resilience in adapting and overcoming these unprecedented challenges...

What was the initial impact on your business when the pandemic began?

We were considered an essential business under FDA guidelines, so we stayed operational to meet the needs of our customers, many of whom were also designated as essential. Hospitals, especially, leaned heavily on us to ensure proper indoor climate control during such critical times. Although business slowed compared to 2019 levels, we managed to keep production running at full capacity throughout the crisis. We tightened our budgets and travel allowances, but fortunately, we maintained our entire workforce without layoffs.

Did you experience any employee infections, and how did you address them?

We had a few cases of employees testing positive for COVID-19. These individuals followed CDC quarantine protocols, and thankfully, it didn’t disrupt our operations. We pulled together as a team and kept moving forward.

When did you notice a noticeable improvement in business, and how did it happen?

In early 2021, we didn’t see much improvement initially. However, things started picking up around February when a massive winter storm hit the central U.S., particularly affecting Texas. This event created a surge in demand for our services, which boosted our business significantly. Over the past two decades, we’ve learned to navigate both peaks and valleys. Now, with vaccine distribution underway, we’re optimistic about the future ahead.

What does the upcoming year look like for Nationwide Coils?

We’re feeling hopeful about the year ahead. We’ve secured several large contracts, expanded our team, and are thrilled to relocate our New York headquarters to a bigger space. There’s a lot to look forward to!
