New rig for Chicago Engine 60

Chicago Engine 60 is set to receive its brand-new high-pressure pumper soon. The unit, a 2010 Spartan Gladiator/Crimson model, is already on-site at the station. It features a powerful 2,000-GPM pump and is equipped with a 500-gallon water tank along with 35 gallons of foam. The engine is assigned to shop #D-654 and is expected to be officially put into service in the near future. The new rig has been making waves among firefighters and enthusiasts alike. Dennis McGuire, Jr. recently visited the academy and captured some great shots of the new and old Engine 60 side by side. In one photo, the new unit stands proudly in the foreground, while the older one is visible in the distance. Another image highlights the back end of the new engine, which boasts a full reflective chevron design across the diamond plate. This eye-catching feature not only enhances visibility but also adds a modern touch to the fire truck’s appearance. These photos offer a rare glimpse into the transition happening at Engine 60 and show how the department is upgrading its fleet to meet modern firefighting needs. The combination of style and functionality makes this new unit a standout addition to the Chicago Fire Department's arsenal.
