Float type automatic exhaust valve research and development
For many years, the loss of hot water during the heating season has been a major challenge for heating departments in northern cities. According to field investigations, a thermal power plant company supplies 8,000 tons of hot water per hour, but loses 500 tons hourly, which adds up to 12,000 tons daily. This represents a 6% loss rate, far exceeding the national standard of 1%. As a result, implementing effective measures to reduce this loss has become an urgent priority.
The primary cause of hot water and heating loss in China is the presence of outdated gas collection tanks and manual exhaust valves in the pipeline system. These systems are not only inefficient but also contribute significantly to water wastage.
Three main factors lead to air entering the heating and hot water pipelines: first, circulating pumps can draw in air while operating; second, when boilers or pumps shut down, negative pressure forms, allowing air to be sucked into the system; third, as cold water is continuously added to the boiler, it separates air during the heating process.
Exhaust valves are essential for preventing "air resistance" and ensuring smooth water circulation. However, traditional manual exhaust valves are problematic. They are often installed in inconvenient locations, such as near sinks or drains, making them difficult to manage. When users open these valves, they release both air and hot water until the pressure equalizes. This process is not controlled by the heating department, and users may leave the valve open for extended periods, leading to significant water loss.
In typical residential buildings, each unit has one or two circuits, each requiring an exhaust valve. With so many units, the number of manual exhaust valves becomes large. Even with daily manual venting, substantial water loss occurs. In some cases, homeowners leave the valves open for 24 hours, especially if no one is home, to avoid conflicts with neighbors. Manual exhaust valves are the only permitted drain valves in the system, and discharging water elsewhere is illegal. Yet, there is currently no way to regulate how long these valves remain open.
The most effective solution to prevent hot water loss is to replace manual exhaust valves with high-quality automatic ones. These devices are widely used in developed countries and eliminate the need for manual venting. They are installed at the highest point of the pipeline, where air tends to accumulate. When air enters the valve, it automatically opens, releasing the air without losing hot water. Once the air is removed, the valve closes automatically, preventing any overflow. This ensures continuous and efficient heating, reduces water waste, and eliminates the need for manual intervention.
By using automatic exhaust valves, heating systems can operate more efficiently, reduce energy consumption, and minimize water loss. This technology not only improves system performance but also aligns with modern standards for resource conservation and operational efficiency.
