Algonquin MVA 1-23-13

Here's what Scott Peterson shared:

I came across this accident just a few minutes after it occurred yesterday. It happened on Randall Road in front of Biaggi’s Restaurant.

There isn’t much information available yet, but it looks like the driver was heading northbound and veered into the southbound lanes about two blocks before the crash. They hit a streetlight pole, then a tree, and finally slammed into the large restaurant sign. The driver got trapped in the vehicle, and it took the emergency crews roughly 20 minutes to extricate them.

A flight-for-life unit was requested, but it couldn’t be dispatched due to poor weather conditions. Despite that, the local emergency teams did an excellent job responding quickly and efficiently.

The units on scene included Engine 142, Engine 141, Ambulance 142, Ambulance 141, and Shift Command 130.

Great work by all the first responders!
