While I was at O’Hare Airport (ORD) for the annual ARFF and Haz-Mat training, I had the chance to take some photos of the equipment in between drills. One of the rigs I captured was Engine 5-3-1, which carries a Zumro tent, HVAC systems for the Zumro unit, and some decontamination gear. It’s based out of ORD Rescue Station 1. Another rig, 8-8-1A, is currently stationed at the AMC building on the airport grounds.
Engine 6-5-7S (a spare unit), Engine 9, and the new Engine 2-7-8 were at the training facility practicing setting up the Zumro tent. Engine 6-5-T is the training unit used for pit exercises and is a 1988 Oshkosh T-3000 crash truck.
Engine 2-9-8 serves as the training officer for ORD, while Engine 2-9-12 is the coordinator for the live fire simulators.
