New rig for Chicago Engine 60

Chicago Engine 60 is getting a brand-new high-pressure pumper, and it's already on-site at their station. The new unit is a 2010 Spartan Gladiator/Crimson model equipped with a 2,000-GPM pump. It will replace the current engine that has been serving the department for years. The new rig carries shop number D-654 and is stocked with 500 gallons of water and 35 gallons of foam, making it well-prepared for any emergency. The vehicle is currently sitting in the station’s quarters, waiting for its official deployment. Dennis McGuire, Jr. recently visited the academy and captured some great photos of the new engine alongside the old one. In one shot, the new rig is visible in the foreground, while the older unit can be seen in the distance. Another image highlights the rear of the new engine, which features a full reflective chevron design across the diamond plate, giving it a striking and professional look. These images give a nice glimpse into the transition happening at Engine 60, showing how the department is upgrading its equipment to better serve the community. The new engine not only looks modern but also promises improved performance and safety for firefighters. It’s an exciting time for the team as they prepare to bring this new asset into service.
