Danny Gonzalez | July 21, 1964 – August 1, 2013

It is with deep sadness that the Lake Zurich Fire/Rescue Department announces the passing of Danny Gonzalez, a dedicated 13-year member of the department. Danny joined the Lake Zurich Fire Department in August 2000 and quickly became an integral part of the team. Over the years, he contributed in many meaningful ways.

  • Danny was a key member of the Training and Safety Committee, where he shared his expertise to help train both new and experienced firefighters in fire science and technical rescue operations.
  • He successfully passed the lieutenant promotional exam and often served as an acting officer when needed, showing leadership and commitment to the department.
  • He also served as the past President of IAFF Local 3191, demonstrating his strong dedication to his fellow firefighters and the union.

Before joining Lake Zurich, Danny began his firefighting career with the South Elgin and Countryside Fire Protection District. He also had a distinguished service record in the United States Marine Corps and remained active with local veteran groups. Additionally, he was a member of the Kane County Sheriff’s Police Correctional Division, showcasing his wide range of public service experience.
