Chicago Still Alarm fire, 2/7/15

I captured this image at 3259 S. Halsted around 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 7th, 2015. I arrived about five minutes too late, and by the time I got there, the fire was mostly under control. It looked like the flames were mainly confined to the rear porches of a large three-story building that had mixed occupancy. Fire engines 29 and 28, along with trucks 8 and 11, were on scene. It was tough to get a clear shot of Engine 29 because it was facing into the sun.

It’s always interesting to see how quickly crews respond and how they work together during emergencies. The firefighters did a great job containing the blaze, and it was impressive to witness their coordination on the ground.
