As seen around … Rockford
This message is from Mike Maida:
I recently visited one of the Rockford Fire Stations and captured some photos of one of their 2013 Pierce engines. This particular unit is Engine 4, a 2013 Pierce Saber PUC rescue engine. It's equipped with Advanced Life Support (ALS) capabilities and features an access door on the officer’s side for the EMS compartment. Engine 4 is one of three designated "Extrication" engines in Rockford, along with Engines 8 and 11. I snapped these pictures as it was heading out on an EMS call. The third photo shows Rockford Quint 5, a 2012 Pierce Velocity 105-ft quint.
Sincerely,
Â
Mike Maida

These images give a great look at the equipment used by the Rockford Fire Department. It's always interesting to see how they prepare for different types of emergencies. I thought it would be nice to share these with others who might be interested in fire apparatus or local emergency services. The details like the ALS setup and the extrication designation show how specialized each unit can be. If you're ever in the area, I'd recommend checking out one of their stations – it's a great way to learn more about the people and vehicles that keep our community safe.
