Algonquin MVA 1-23-13
This is from Scott Peterson:
I came across this accident just a few minutes after it occurred yesterday. It took place on Randall Road in front of Biaggi’s Restaurant.
There isn’t much information available about the incident, but it looks like the driver was heading northbound and veered into the southbound lanes about two blocks before the crash. The vehicle hit a light pole, then a tree, and finally slammed into the large restaurant sign. The driver became trapped in the car, and it took emergency crews approximately 20 minutes to extricate them.
A flight-for-life team was called for, but they couldn’t respond due to poor weather conditions. Despite the challenges, the local fire and rescue teams did an outstanding job.
Algonquin Fire Department units involved included Engine 142, Engine 141, Ambulance 142, Ambulance 141, and Shift Command 130.
Great work by all the crews!
